18S: setting up with a simple speaker controller

What is the best solution to setup the LYD's or BM's with the 18s sub, using a monitoring system that allows me to mute sub or monitors individually.

In a simple stereo setup with a simple speaker controller, we would always recommend using an 18S with the LYD products (especially the 8 & 48 from an SPL point of view) as this already has pre-set filters, gain and delay settings to help integrate the subwoofer and monitors to each other as well as a three band PEQ to help equalize the subwoofer to the room. In the case where the subwoofer is connected separately from the left and right speakers, the delay function will only work when the subwoofer is placed closer to the listener than the left and right speakers.

We would recommend that the LYD high-pass filter is set to +10 Hz and that the subwoofer is integrated with the LYD speakers as we describe in the manuals and do not use the low-pass filter in the controller. Setting up the system in this way will allow the controller to simply be a switch box and volume control.

If a surround/immersive monitoring solution is required, we would recommend a controller that is able to apply, gain, delay, EQ as well as high-pass or low-pass filters as required to perform a proper system/room calibration.
