Connections and settings for Core monitors + one or two subs.
DIGITAL CONNECTION
If your source (audio interface, mixer, speaker controller) has a digital output that is volume controlled, you should always prefer that solution as it is the easiest to achieve.
- The digital output of your source should be AES3 or SPDIF (you can use a short SPDIF to AES adapter between the source and the sub or to the closest Core monitor)
- you can simply daisy-chain the monitors using the digital in and
digital out connector. Ensure that both the monitor and sub(s) are set to the correct digital
channel (L, R, or L + R). There is no specific order to respect between the source and the Core's in the daisy chain. - If you use 2 subs (or even 4 subs) , you can assign one to LEFT and one to RIGHT.
- Set the Core monitors Bass Extension to "HP" and Core SUB Bandwidth to "LP"
- SPL setting should be the same on Subs and main Core speakers.
ANALOGUE CONNECTION
This might require some external hardware addition such as a line splitter or a speaker controller with a mono/stereo subwoofer output. Core Sub / Core Sub Compact only have a single analogue input and can only be fed with an analogue mono signal.
The signal that is fed to the sub should have the same level as the one fed to the Core speakers and follow all volume changes.
Single sub setup:
A mono sum of L+R must be fed to the Core Sub analogue input. This requires that your source (interface, mixer or speaker controller) has an extra output that can SUM the main L+R monitor out and follow the main monitor volume control changes.
example:
Source Left (analogue) out >>> Core (Left position) Analogue IN
Source Right (analogue) out >>> Core (Right Position) Analogue IN
Source mono sum (L+R) out >>> Core Sub (compact) analogue IN
Dual Sub Setup
The source has an extra stereo output that follows the main monitor out volume
The source has a stereo output for subs
