Troubleshooting

Focus: reconnecting the Remote Control

My remote control has lost connection or I need to connect a new remote unit.

    Bluetooth remote

This document covers firmware 1.2.88 and later

    Resetting the remote control

Like stated in the manual resetting is done by pressing the preset buttons 1+3 simultaneously until the LED on the remote flashes. The reset does not only reset the remote, but also removes the pairing on the speaker. the speaker must be on and paired with the remote.

When the Bluetooth remote is put back into pairing mode (either by pressing 1+3 or play+BT button), the speaker and the remote will pair automatically, without the need of engaging pairing mode on the speaker giving that the speaker is still on and unpaired.

When the connection is successful a cue sound will be played from the speaker and the remote status in the app has changed to connected.

    Pairing a new remote

If a speaker is already paired with a remote but a new remote is to be paired (e.g. old remote lost), press and hold preset buttons 1+3 on new remote until the LEDs on the remote starts flashing.

Then press the Bluetooth button on the back of the speaker for 3-5 seconds to engage Bluetooth pairing or go to the app and start Bluetooth pairing from there. When the pairing is successful a cue sound will be played from the speaker and the status in the app will changed to connected.

    Error conditions

If for some reason the remote and the speaker won’t connect there’s a couple of things to try.

    Power cycle the speaker

Sometimes when the speaker acts up, the best thing to do is performing a power cycle. This is done by turning the Primary and the Client speaker completely off for at least 10 seconds.

    Replace/pair a second remote

We’ve seen cases (very rare) where the speaker ends up in being locked and the remote just won’t pair. This is a bug we’ve seen so rarely that we have not been able to come up with a fix. Though we have found pairing a new remote gets the speaker out of the state and the old remote will be able to be paired again.

    Reset pairing on speaker manually

The pairing on the speaker can be removed manually. Copy the URL below and paste it into the address bar of a browser. Replace the IP address (192.168.255.249) with the IP of the speaker you want to reset (IP is found in app).

    http://192.168.255.249/api/setData?path=dynaudio%3A%2Fui%2Fdebug%2Fremote%2Freset&roles=activate&value={}

Note that this will only reset the pairing on the speaker, meaning that if you press any button on  a remote that was paired before the reset, the remote will pair automatically.

If the old remote is not accessible, pair a new remote by pressing the preset buttons 1+3 simultaneously to engage Bluetooth pairing.

    Factory reset

When performing a factory reset all settings on the speaker will be removed including the remote control.

To avoid an early automatic repairing of remote that might lead to confusion, remove the batteries before performing the factory reset on the speaker.

When the speaker is ready after the reset, reinsert the batteries in the remote. If the remote is not automatically paired with the speaker within 5 seconds, press and hold the preset buttons 1+3 on the remote for +3 seconds (or until the LEDs start flashing on the remote). Within 5 seconds a cue sound will be played on the speaker which indicates a successful pairing.
