The history

For almost 30 years renowned car manufacturers are relying on Dynaudio – so why do they work with a small Danish specialist? Well, part of the explanation might be our philosophy. We do one thing, and one thing only. This gives us a unique level of competence in acoustics and speaker technology – coming to play when creating sound systems that transform cars into moving concert halls.

1994

Volvo approaches Dynaudio, asking if it would be possible to develop a High-End Sound System for the upcoming C70 Coupé. At the time, no one had brought a high-quality or even a branded Hi-Fi system to market in the automotive segment, but Volvo was determined to offer the best sound system available.

1997

In January the new Volvo C70 Coupé is presented at the Detroit Motor Show. Among many innovative features, it impresses with the first High-End Sound System in a production car – developed by Dynaudio.

2001

Dynaudio starts to work with Volkswagen to develop a new generation of High End and Premium Sound Systems for their model range.

2002

The first Volkswagen with a Dynaudio Sound System is presented: the VW Phaeton.  The aim: to deliver a superb stereo system that is as good as the perfect studio sound of a home system. Our four-way sound system recessed in the doors marks the beginning of a long and fruitful cooperation. Today most of the Volkswagen model range is available with a Premium Sound System from Dynaudio in most markets — even as far away as China, where Volkswagen offers Dynaudio Premium Sound Systems with great success.

2009

The Bugatti Veyron enters the stage. On board: the High End Sound System Puccini from Dynaudio. Creating a system for the world’s fastest super car is not an easy task. The solution: doing more with less. The Puccini Sound System in the Bugatti Veyron has just four loudspeaker drivers. Each one is meticulously engineered and tuned to create the pure sound that has always been a hallmark of Dynaudio, With a top speed above 400 km/h, we like to think of the Bugatti Veyron as the fastest concert hall in the world.

2018

The new Dynaudio Confidence Sound System launches in the latest generation of the Volkswagen Passat B8. It is designed and engineered specifically for the model, featuring amongst other innovations newly-designed Magnesium Silicate Polymer (also known as MSP) midrange drivers.
