Evidence Platinum Collector´s Edition

The final ten

The most refined Evidence model, meticulously recreated by the team behind the original

FIND A DEALER

Evidence Platinum Collector’s Edition is the final production run of this legendary speaker. One that proved to its listeners – with zero doubt – that they had reached the apex of what a loudspeaker could do. Now we’re bringing the curtain down with ten final pairs – the final chance worldwide to own a new Evidence Platinum. They have been built in Denmark from the original engineering plans by many of the same people who worked on the first run back in 2012. Martin, Anne, Daniel, Claus, Kalin, Claus H, John and Kim used the same materials, processes and painstaking attention to detail that have made Evidence Platinum so coveted for the past 14 years. These final ten pairs embody all the values and ambitions we had when we started Dynaudio in 1977 – to reproduce music without colouration, effects or distortion, so you can hear it unvarnished. The way it was meant to be heard.

Made by hand in Denmark

It takes years to learn how to make cabinets like this. And it isn’t something we’d entrust to a robot; we need the well-trained hands of a master craftsperson. Every single detail has to be correct, from internal bracing placement to the exact amount of glue used in the hand-clamped joints. Nothing is left to chance.

We apply up to 28 coats of clear primer before five coats of high-gloss lacquer, stopping to sand carefully at regular intervals. Patience is a virtue: the lacquer must harden for 16 hours before each sanding stage. Polishing takes another 16 to 20 hours. Everything is done by feel, sharpened by decades of experience.

Final assembly is by hand, and involves marrying 405 individual parts across 16 distinct stages. The process takes seven hours of intense concentration. For each speaker.

Down to the last detail

At the heart of the sound is the original Dynaudio DDC (Dynaudio Directivity Control), which reduces a room’s influence on performance by up to 75 per cent. It works using precisely positioned quad woofers, midrange drive units and the renowned Esotar 2 tweeters, all precision-matched in their arrays and mirrored up the length of the 4cm-thick machined aluminium baffle.

Behind the drivers is an advanced crossover architecture created by Henrik Thorn Adsersen, who still works at Dynaudio. The crossover is so sensitive that it must be housed in its own thermally and mechanically isolated compartment.

Even the screws are optimised for the concept.

Made to disappear

Evidence speakers aren’t shy about taking up space. But when the music starts, we want them – with all their craftsmanship, their engineering and their unreasonable attention to detail – to vanish. Nothing should stand between you and the emotion in your music.

Each of the final ten pairs will be individually numbered and installed in its new home by a Dynaudio specialist. And each will come with a letter signed by the people who built them here in Skanderborg.
