Recently, we provided M3 main monitors for his Copenhagen session about working 'In The Studio With Michael Jackson'. Afterwards, Brad was kind to send us his detailed thoughts on the M3 listening experience:
"Being of Scandinavian heritage I am always interested in testing and working with products from the colder regions of Europe. Dynaudio has long been on my radar, so when they offered me a pair of M3 Main Monitors for one of my studio events last month I jumped at the chance.
I walked into the Roof Studios in Copenhagen and the Dynaudio team was busy getting their monitors calibrated for the room and my group of eager listeners. I set up my computer and fed them some source material I am deeply connected with - Michael Jackson mixes from the Bad and Dangerous albums."

"I found the sweet-spot in the room (about 13 feet back) and aimed the speakers just at my shoulders, so they intersected a few feet behind my head, and played some mixes that I am very familiar with. I closed my eyes and listened.
I started with some selections from the Bad album sessions, as I am so familiar with those mixes.
The kick drum was solid and tight, just like it should be. The bass was clear and pronounced, not shaking the room but exactly like it sounded when Bruce Swedien mixed it years ago.
The image placement in the stereo spectrum was laser-focused in perfect placement.
I played a wide variety of music - mostly mixes I had worked on. Ballads were warm and lush, rock and pop was punchy and clean. I pushed the levels hard and made a few minor EQ adjustments to compensate for the room and the monitors blossomed and delivered.
Likewise I could ease the volume back to a soft level and the mix was not lost - everything stayed nicely in its place."

"When I teach groups I instruct them to focus on vocals and vibrato, so it is vital that the monitors I use don’t add color and can accurately replicate the sound from the original microphone preamp.
We used to go to great lengths balancing the outputs of reverb devices like the EMT-250, so my ears tune into how monitors handle the soft decay of vocals - particularly choirs and background clusters. The M3 system clearly delivers vocals without adding sibilance or tonal oddities.
One of the amazing feats of M3 is how much sound you get from the size of the footprint. They are not exactly “portable”, but they can be moved around as needed to provide a monstrous amount of professional-grade sound while still fitting through doorways in a typical studio or listening room."
"I would have no hesitation in recommending these monitors for someone who wants clean, accurate, punchy music reproduction in a wide variety of situations: music recording, post production and high-end listening.
They would be a worthwhile investment for many studio owners to elevate themselves above the competition, as well as the music aficionado who wants to treat themselves to something more interesting than a pair of consumer “tower” speakers.
