18S : How to control the trigger input?

I would like to control the 18S through its trigger input. How can I achieve it?

The trigger input requires a current between 5 and 12VDC to activate the set function and 0VDC to deactivate it.
Dynaudio does not sell an accessory for it, so there are 2 options:

  • either you can buy and use that expression pedal here: (we are not affiliated to the pedal manufacturer and will not support the pedal, but this was one of the only article we could find to do the job and wanted to share the info):

    https://missionengineering.com/shop-2/products/expression/multi-use-exp/5-cv/

  • Or you can build (or have built) your own custom switch: The trigger input reacts to 5-12V (on)
For triggering, you'll need to make a custom device but it is probably simple:

    - A common DC power supply ( 5 to 12VDC max), something like a power supply for guitar pedals. (positive in center)
    - an inline DC switch (alternate)
    - a cable with mini jack on the sub side, and DC plug at the other end. positive on tip (mini jack side)

These  items can be found in an electrical equipment store.

The switch will cut or send the DC current to trigger the 18S

NOTE: We cannot assist you in creating this custom switch ( it is all under your responsibility)

Here are the 4 options for the trigger (and you select one)

  • Disable: Trigger input is ignored.

  • ON/OFF: Trigger input is required to turn the 18S on.

  • Mute sub with High pass: Trigger input mutes the 18S with main speakers high passed.

  • Mute sub without High pass: Trigger input mute the 18s without high pass filtering the main speaker
