Xeo and Focus XD range: General information on the communication

How speakers communicate between them or with the Hub/Connect

This information is not relevant for the Xeo 3 and Xeo 5 models.

Wireless signal between Master/Slave or between Connect/Hub and speakers:

Wireless signal between speakers and transmission units run in the Wi-Fi frequencies (5.2 GHz) but is technically not using the Wi-Fi protocols. It should not be compared with speakers that use Wi-Fi for audio connection. Xeo/XD has much lower latency, and much more stable latency between the speakers, which results in better stereo imaging than what would be possible with Wi-Fi protocols.

All wireless streams between speakers and/or transmission units are uncompressed (not even lossless compression).

Connect WiFi and Bluetooth

Connect: 2.4 GHz is reserved for Bluetooth and Wi-Fi , used for DLNA and Spotify Connect (no longer supported since 2018) . Wi-Fi connection is 2.4 GHz only.

Connect: Bluetooth, Wi-Fi and USB share Input 4. In Multiroom mode, it is not possible to stream for instance Bluetooth to one zone and USB to another.

Bluetooth (Connect and Xeo 2, 10, 20, 30)

Bluetooth: Version 4.0. Supports APTX/AAC. Up to 8 sources can be paired, when more source is paired, the oldest gets pushed out. Up to two sources can be connected, the last used will take over the stream. Calls/notification sounds will not get pushed to the speaker.

System Latency: About 20 ms regardless of mode
